Teacher training school of music of Paris

The Teacher training school of Music of Paris , also called Teacher training school Alfred Cortot , was founded in 1919 by Alfred Cortot and Auguste Mangeot. Installed since 1927 in a private mansion of style “Beautiful Time” located at the 114 (a), Boulevard Malesherbes with Paris (17 {{E}}), it is currently directed by Henri Heugel and includes/understands the Council of musical orientation made up of many eminent musicians and pedagogs. It is about one of the last private schools of music of France recognized by the State.

The school

Among his famous professors, one counts Pablo Casals, Jacques Thibaud, Nadia Boulanger, Paul Dukas, Wanda Landowska, Georges Enesco, Claire Croiza, Jean Rivier and Pierre Bernac for the song. She made of many instrumentalists such as Samson François or Dinu Lipatti. Currently, it counts 200 pupils and 120 professors in all the disciplines of the classical music.

The school aims to train “complete musicians, i.e. not only able to excel in practice of an instrument, Chant, Chamber music or of a speciality such as the composition but also having solid knowledge in all the complementary disciplines such as Solfège, analyzes, history of the music…”

One distinguishes, within this school, four types of classes to the finalities différentes :

  • of the classes of initiations for the children
  • of the classes for confused amateurs, all levels
  • preparation with a career of concert performer
  • preparation with a career of teaching

The Cortot room

It is located on the spot even Teacher training school of music of Paris, its history is related to that of the culture and the Parisian musical life since 1930. Masterpiece “Art déco” builds by Auguste Perret, the architect of the Théâtre of the Fields-Élysées, the Cortot room accommodated the largest musicians of our time.

Profiting from the support from SACEM and General society, this room of 400 places to exceptional acoustics is also classified Historic building because of the originality and the beauty of its architecture.

Usual and natural place of the contests and public concerts of the school since its creation, the room constitutes a quasi permanent place of expression of the professors and high level pupils of this school. It is also rented all the year with organizers in concerts or with companies or private individuals.
