Tce Charleroi

tce Charleroi belongs to the Walloon Regional Société of the Transport (SRWT), which is the public company of transport of the Walloon region in Belgium. Its network is composed of 71 lines of Autobus and four lines of Métro.

History

The tce Charleroi was founded in 1991, during the regionalization of transport in Belgium. Previously, the STIC (Company of inter-commune Transport of Charleroi) jointly managed lines with the SNCV (National company of the Secondary lines).

Network

A network of four lines of tram (sometimes called Prémétro or Light subway of Charleroi - MLC) makes it possible to connect the districts of Anderlues and Gilly either to the stations, or with the park of Charleroi. The remainder of the network is served by buses (see below).

Tram/Prémétro

  • the line 54 : it connects the center of Gilly to the station of Charleroi-south via the stations Gazomètre, Samaritaine, Waterloo, Art schools, Charleroi-west SNCB and the Villette. The line is underground between Gilly and Beautiful arts, and the station Charleroi-west SNCB is underground.

  • the line 55 : it connects the center of Gilly to the park of Charleroi (near the Boulevard Tirou) via the stations Gazomètre, Samaritaine, Waterloo (or a loop makes it possible to make half-turn and set out again in the other direction towards Parc) and Janson. The line is entirely underground.
  • the line 89 : it connects the center of Anderlues (as a tram on road) to the station of Charleroi-south, via various stations (as a tram on exclusive right of way, like a train). The line is on the surface, except the station Charleroi-west SNCB, as well as the stations DeCartier and Dampremy.
  • the line 88 : it is similar to line 89, if it is not that it has like destination the park of Charleroi (via Waterloo). The line is operated on the surface, except between Art schools and Parc, as well as the stations DeCartier and Dampremy.

The lines of tram are replaced by buses in evening (after 20:00).

From here spring 2008, work will begin to connect the stations Parc and Charleroi-south SNCB enter-they - thus Closing the loop -, line 62 will be as for it recreated, which will allow a restoration of the roadway of Brussels. And finally, the antenna of Gilly will be prolonged until Soleilmont. End of all work envisaged for 2012.
