Taverny is a common French, located in the department of the Val-d'Oise and the area Île-de-France. Its inhabitants is called Tabernacien () S.
Located at orée of the Forest of Montmorency, the common one knew an urban strong growth lasting of 20th century which transformed the village of origin downtown exceeding them: 25000 inhabitants. Having a remarkable Gothic church , Taverny is especially famous for its air base, French military system center of nuclear deterrence, located in old careers given up under the forest.
Geography
Taverny is located in Vallée of Montmorency, to 20 km in the North-West of
Paris, with orée of the Forêt of Montmorency. The southern half of its largely urbanized territory occupies the Vallée of Montmorency between 55 and 90 meters of altitude while the septentrional half of the territory is occupied essentially by the main forest, located on a Butte-témoin staging itself from 90 to 188 meters of altitude. The territory counts a still rural small portion in the North-West.
The commune is crossed East-West: in its center the secondary road 928 (Saint-Denis - Hérouville) and in the south by the highway has 115, partially in distinct glaze. Two North-South axes connect the commune to Beauchamp and the Patte of Goose of Herblay (D 106) and to Montigny-the-Cormeilles (D 407). The commune is in addition crossed by no river; however, the northern limit of the territory is formed by the brook of the Funds or brook of Cailleuse, become downstream Ru of Montubois, flows minor of the Oise.

Climate
Taverny as all the Île-de-France is subjected to a degraded oceanic Climat. It intramurally is different from the climate of Paris by a variation in temperature of a few degrees, particularly notable at daybreak, and which tends to be accentuated with the passing of years. This variation, of 2° on average but which can reach 8° by one night clear and a weak Vent, is explained by the urban density which increases the temperature in the middle of the agglomeration. The annual average temperature is of 11°C, the month more the cold is January with +4°C; the hottest months are July and August with +19°C (average day laborer).

Its Gallo-Roman name is
Taberniacum . In
754, the charter of Pépin the Brief makes of it the property of the Abbaye of Saint-Denis.
Revolution at our days
A decree of June 16th, 1806 joined together the commune of Taverny to that of “Claire-Fountain cy-in front of Saint-Leu” who becomes “Saint-Leu-Taverny”. Taverny disappears as a commune.
In 1815, important careers of Gypse are put in exploitation at Taverny and Bessancourt. Because of their strategic position (in particular of the proximity of the Railroad) and their surfaces, these places are used by German (1941 - 1944) who stores ammunition there, there establish the center of air defense of the Luftwaffe and make of it an assembly workshop of the missiles V1 and V2. In 1946, the air force uses in its turn the careers. In 1957, the Center of Operations of Air Defense settles in the air base of Taverny, followed in 1961 of the Command Air of the Defense forces Air and in 1963 of the Command of the Strategic Air forces.
In October 1915, “Saint-Leu-Taverny” is divided into Saint-Leu-The-Forest and Taverny. Taverny reappears as a commune.

Monuments and places of visit
Our-Lady-with-the Assomption is a beautiful Gothic church of the 13th century, finished in record time in 1237 then consolidated at XVe and XIXe centuries. The family of Montmorency undertook of them work and one says that the first stone was posed by Blanche of Castille. A Triforium makes it tower of the Nef, the Transept and the chorus. The capitals and the archivolts of the gate are decorated splendid sculptures. The church shelters a remarkable stone retable given by the constable Anne de Montmorency.
