Tavernay
Tavernay is a common French, located in the department of Saône-et-Loire and the area Burgundy.
Geography
The commune is crossed by the river Ternin.It passes in edge of the borough.
The hamlet of Commaille is more important than the borough. The houses of this hamlet are aligned along the road which connects Autun to Castle-Chinon.
History
The village knew a strong expansion at the end of the XIXe century and at the beginning of the XXe century, dependant on the oil shale exploitation.There was to 1000 inhabitants in the commune. The church was built besides consequently, it is larger than the churches of the close villages.
The extension of the retail park and industrial to its southern limit (on the territory of the commune of Autun) is an asset for Tavernay, which will be able to see its population growing slightly as from 2006.
