Tausend Augen

Tausend Augen is a review created in 1995 in Lille - at the origin primarily by students of the Département of Cinematographic Studies of the Université of Lille III, but which was always and remains independent. The object of the review - first of all subtitled re-examined cinema, television, video… , then re-examined quarterly of visual arts , then starting from 2002 re-examined audio-visual cultures and finally starting from 2006 " audio-visual cultures and représentations" - is the critical analysis of audio-visual works, primarily the Cinéma, but with a constant worry of Multidisciplinarité, from where regular incursions into the fields of the Télévision, the Video art, the Photographie, etc… Tausend Augen forever hesitated to also treat Cartoon, Visual arts, Video games, Concrete music, musical Machines, Contemporary dance…

As of its creation, Tausend Augen anchored its critical in the Gender & farming approach Anglo-Saxon studies , taking its distances with the Doxa Auteuriste of French criticism Cinéphilique. Number 1 includes/understands in particular a long discussion with No5el Burch, critical and American theorist then teaching the theory of the cinema at the University of Lille III. In addition to the theoretical and critical work specific as of its members and collaborators, Tausend Augen regularly proposes translations of Anglo-Saxon authors generally neglected in France. The writers of Tausend Augen could qualify their leading line of Socio-esthetics and of analyzes critical Représentations .

In 2004 the Editions Tausend Augen are created which prolong the critical work of the review by the publication of books and DVD.
