Tatooine

Tatooine , or Tatouïne in francized orthography, is a desert planet of the universe of the Star Wars , located at the edge external of the Republic. This planet is in fact only one desert, refuge of the cheappest brigands of the galaxy.

It is lit by two suns (Tatoo 1 and 2).

De Tatooine comes the Skywalker family, and reigns Jabba Hutt in its palate.

In margin of the central systems managed by the Galactic Republic or the Galactic Empire according to the times, Tatooine represents a refuge with the smugglers, assassins, hunters of premium and other individuals not very frequentable: the jawa S are small recuperators of robots, acting like Charognard S on the wrecks of their Caterpillars, and the violent ones Hommes of sands devote themselves to it to plundering.

Etymology

The name of Tatooine finds its origin in the deserted of Tataouine , in Tunisia, country where the scenes of the farm of moisture of Owen Lars were turned, adoptive uncle of Luke Skywalker, in the first film. This place of turning was still useful for the second trilogy produced by George Lucas.

First trilogy

Tatooine is a hostile planet, one still practices slavery, it there is in particular the constraint in which one finds Shmi Skywalker at the beginning of the hexalogy.

Which-Gon Jinn made there a stopover to repair its vessel and it discovers Anakin Skywalker there. Obi Wan Kenobi takes refuge there after the massacre of the Jedi, taking care on the new son born from Anakin and late the Padmé Amidala which he entrusts to Owen and Beru Lars.

The flora is developed very little. However one finds some very rare trees like some mushrooms cultivated on the vaporateurs. Tatooine had at the beginning immense oceans and forests but the bombardment of planet by Rakatas upset the climate dramatically.
