Tartagal

Tartagal is the chief town of the Département of General Jose de San Martín, in the province of Salta in Argentine. With a population of more or less 70.000 inhabitants, it is the center of one of the richest zones of the province, especially that in its surroundings the second gas basin of the country is and that, moreover, the city constitutes a commercial node within the Mercosur.

It is distant of 365 km of the town of Salta, of 55 of the border Bolivia, of 103 of that of the Paraguay, and of 1.736 of Buenos Aires. Tartagal is connected with the remainder of the province and the country by means of the trunk road 34 and the railroad called Ferrocarril General Belgrano .
