Akebono , of its true name Chad Rowan is old a Sumotori étatsunien. Born the May 8th 1969 with Waimanalo (Hawaii), it marked the history of the sumo and contributed to its media radiation in particular by opening it outside the Japanese archipelago. It measures 2,03 meters for 220 kg. Akebono wants to say " aube" in Japanese.

Sumo

Professional since 1988, following the example his two rival large futures Takanohana and Wakanohana, Akebono became the first sumotori not-Japanese to be reached the rank of Yokozuna, the level more raised, the January 27th 1993.

He withdraws in January 2001 due to wounds after thirteen years of competitions.

K-1

Akebono launched out in the adventure of the K-1 with a very relative success, gaining one of its combat over the eights disputed. Its imposing mass adapting badly with its opponents even if he faced gauges except standards like Bob Sapp or Hong Man Choi.

At July 29th, 2005, Akebono adds up 8 engagements in the rules of K-1: 1 victory and 7 defeats

3/19/05: victory against Nobuaki Kakuda by decision with the 3rd round;

Bob Sapp ; Musashi; Zhang Qin Jun; Rick Roufus ; Remy Bonjasky and Hong Man Choi beat Akebono.

Akebono was also tested with the free combat but without much more success with two defeats for two engagements against Royce Gracie and Bobby Ologun. ----
