Taro (department)

The Taro was old a French department whose chief town was Parma, with Plaisance and Fidenza for Sous-préfecture S.

The department was created the May 24th 1808, drawing its name from the homonymous river. The population of this territory had been estimated at 381  087 inhabitants in 1806. The treated of Fontainebleau of the April 11th 1814 put an end to the French possession.
