Tarentula (Animutants)

Tarentula (Tarentulas in the vo) is a character of the series Animutants .

Frightening warrior ninja and without scruples, and insane and endowed scientist, it is engaged by Mégatron, probably as a data processing specialist. After the crash landing of the vessel, it remains in the camps of this one, but does not show really fidelity towards him, obeying to him only because it is known less extremely. He fights several times Rattrap, without never managing to beat it, even in animal mode (see " The energy of énergon"). In " Sonde" , it creates a frightening apparatus able to prevent the maximals from putting itself in robot mode. It is thanks to this apparatus that the prédators gains one their rare victories over the maximals. In " Agent double" , it reprograms a maximum protoform in prédator and for animal mode a spider gives him, with a very clear aim to be made an accomplice of it, which will give to the Black Widow. Then, in " Inferno" , it scrambles the communications maximals and prédators for, with the assistance of the Black Widow, capacity to seize on its account another protoform maximum arrived and to make of it another spider prédator with its service. This attempt will fail, since it will result from it the prédator Inferno, which will be rather devoted to Mégatron. The Black Widow as learns on the occasion as Tarentula undertakes the construction of a vessel for its own account in order to escape from planet, but the scientist will refuse with him to say some more.

Towards the end of season 1, it makes an attempt betray Mégatron, but fails. The explosion which occurs at the beginning of season 2 partially destroyed its body, while transforming it into transmétal, but its vital spark survives and taken refuge in the body of the Black Widow. It remains there a time, jusquà what she undertakes, under its control, an experiment to repair it. It leaves it then and reinstates its own body, which is repaired and become transmétal, therefore much more powerful than before. It however keeps its control on it, until it breaks the bond which links them. During the remainder of season 2, it shows more rebel than ever towards Mégatron, than it regards nothing any more but as his equal, and helps it from now on only if that brings to him to itself something. In " Visiteurs" (first part), he announces with his " chef" that he will not obey to him any more. He helps it nevertheless to capture and take the control of a Alien vessel, by pure desire, according to the Black Widow, to harm those. In the second part of the same episode, Mégatron, having taken the control of the Alien vessel, gives up Tarentula, which is captured by the maximals. Knowing itself in bad posture, it offers to help the maximals to counter Mégatron. In spite of their lack of cofiance in him, those accept. Unexpected thing, the warrior ninja holds his promise, detects the prédators, Rattrap assistance to enter the Alien vessel and decontaminates the engines of them. After which, he flees in mode conveys.

Thereafter, Tarentula reinstates the prédators, but continuous to seek to handle Mégatron and to betray it as soon as possible. It proves to be an agent of the Council of Tripledacus, another group of prédators. It is destroyed by Rattrap in " The Agenda leaves 3" , but rebuilt in " Optimal Situation" by its robot-spiders. It rejoins Quickstrike with its cause a time and uses it to throw Mégatron in the lava in " Master blade" , but the prédator chief returns in transmétal 2 and throws Tarentula in the lava in his turn. The scientist catches up with accuracy, and takes refuge in his secret laboratory, then undertakes to capture Tigerhawk in order to absorb Vok which controlled it. The operation turned however badly, and Tarentula vaporized him even in panic with its own weapon. Later, Mégatron will discover the vessel " Nemesis" , that Tarentula had undertaken to repair in hiding-place, and will use it for itself.

note: although he is regarded thereafter as died in the series, a comic, " Beast war: primeval dawn" , reveals that it had in fact carried out itself the setting in scene of its death to absorb Vok which controlled Tigerhawk, and which it is thus always in life…

Description

Season 1

In season 1, Tarentula is a tarantula violet with yellow mendibules which become its hands/grips in robot mode. It is armed with a kind of rifle-hook also which can propel nets or venom and of its legs of spiders, which become machine-guns. Its face of robot least the did not milk human one, its eyes being replaced by a kind of visor and its mouth by species of mendibules. Its way is squeaking and underhand, and it unceasingly releases sniggers maniacs which recorded its personality well of insane scientist.

Season 2 and 3

Once become transmétal, its animal mode has a gilded abdomen and mendibules longer. Its head of robot is equipped with horns, and its grips are replaced by hands with three doights. It is armed with a kind of saw rotatory, usable as arms with shooting which always launches nets and venom, and with two species of shoulder pads (which form its aft wheel in mode conveys) able to draw from the same manner as its old legs of spiders. Its vehicle mode is a motor bike.

Notes: In addition to its usual weapons, Tarentula often uses many gadgets of its inventions to fight. Let us quote in particular its tiny robot-spiders, of which it is useful almost all the time, and who fulfill various functions (spies, infiltrateurs, saboteurs…) but also various poisons and virus, of the bombs… Its knowledge in technology is frightening.
