Tarcisio Bertone (born the December 2nd 1934 with Romano Canavese in Italy), is the Cardinal Secretary of State of the Roman Curie since the September 15th 2006 while succeeding Angelo Sodano.
The Cardinal Secretary of State is the collaborator nearest to the Pape; he directs the Diplomatie of the Holy See and directly follows the pope in the hierarchy of the the Vatican.
In 2000, it was responsible for the revealing of the Secrets of Fatima.
Tarcisio Bertone was archbishop of Verceil of 1991 with 1995, secretary of the Congrégation for the doctrines of the faith of 1995 with 2002, archbishop of Genoa of 2002 with 2006 and is cardinal since 2003. It is also Salésien.
It is named Camerlingue in 2007.
It is open to Turkey, without necessarily favouring its entry in Europe.
