Tarbelles
The Tarbelles ( Tarbelli in Latin) were the Aquitanian people which lived in particular the Basque Country French and the Chalosse. Their capital was Dax, in the past Aquae Terbellicae , located in what Ausone described like “these regions where mugit people of Tarbelles”.
Their denomination of Tarbelli quatuorsignani ( Tarbelles with the four standards ) indicated that they federated four tribes.
Bordered by the Cocosates in north, the Barduetes in the south and the Suburates of Drunk in the east.
It is difficult not to bring closer their name to that of the town of Tarbes.
