Tarace Boulba

Tarace Boulba is a brass band created in 1993 by Matthieu Paulus and OJ Ruffier Of Aimes (2 old Green Négresses), whose objective is accessibility with the practice of the free music for all .

Based on an associative operation , Tarace Boulba proposes with any musician to come to learn and play the happy repertory with the colors funk, afro, ska, gogo or reggae.

History and origins

Beginnings and birth

Created in 1993, in the beginning to accommodate the musicians wishing to play but not having is more formations or not structure to practice their instrument.

Tarace quickly found victim of its success and its founding members confronted with the choices either to structure the group on the model of existing formations (signed by recording companies), or to continue to accommodate the musicians in the spirit of an open collective. It is this last way which was chosen and the collective counts today almost 800 members in France and Europe.

Tarace buys its first coach to ensure in the concerts in province in Europe. From there a system of lists of musicians made upstream it departure organizes to control the number of musicians according to the places available in the bus.

Operation

The inscription as adherent is of 15 euros with life. It is all. Once adherent, all the members of tarace have the possibility of learning the repertory thanks to workshops organized in the buildings from association with Montreuil-sous-Bois and of occurring on scene with the brass band.

Workshops and repetitions

the workshops make it possible to the members of association to learn the repertory from Tarace Boulba to prepare the concerts in addition to allowing the practice of the instrument regularly, in group.

These workshops are held each week in the buildings of association and are structured in section: workshop trumpet, workshop trombone and so on for the rhythmic one (Stick, battery and percussions), flutes, songs, saxophones and even the improvisation.

the repetitions are the occasion to work all joined together sections. They take place with the coffee Fishing with Montreuil-sous-Bois every Thursday evenings of 19:00 to 22:00. At the time of these repetitions the stress is laid on the pieces but also on the possibility of making chorus or of working out installations musical or scenic.

The repetition is also a weekly moment of gathering support to community life of the group: in particular thanks to a ritual pause during which the methods for the next concerts are organized (manpower, dates, places, schedules) but also during which can be discussed the subjects common to all and with association (artistic choice, organization or collective validation of such or such decision).

Concerts

Tarace Boulba occurs on scene (amplified) or under conditions of " rue" under various formulas:

- The sections coppers accompanied by a Stick Chapman and rhythmic (battery and percussions)

- The sections coppers accompanied by rhythmic (battery and percussions) static or déambulatoire

Community life

The social link woven by Tarace Boulba between the members of a community in the various beginnings is one of principal forces association.

Community life is articulated around several places:

the room,

administrative seat of association, places of many passages and meetings, space music where is held the workshops of work of the repertory tarace storage space and of repetitions open to the other trainings of musicians

general repetitions,

make weekly of meeting of all the musicians according to a geometry function of the availabilities of each one. On average, of twenty five to a hundred taracians (cians) can thus find itself to work the pieces, scenography but also to maintain, with different degree, affinities or social relations around community life.

the bus,

The bus is not means of transport. It acts more than one pointer our the voyages of the brass band. It quite naturally prolongs spaces of community life like the room or the repetitions. This bus transports anywhere, any time until fifty musicians: one there travels, sleeps, eats, plays, discusses, reads.

The charter

At the time of adhesion, any taracian reads, and accepts de facto, the charter of association as bases spirit of common life in Tarace Boulba.

This charter is not to in no case exhaustive multiple cases of figures which can present a Community life. The fifteen years of community life forged a spirit tarace , resulting from attitudes more naturally adopted by all and sundry, and more difficult to tally by texts.
