Tankōbon
A tankōbon (単行本) is the Japanese term for a collection of chapters of Manga. It compiles several chapters of the same series and publishes them on paper of high-quality. These is besides the versions which are used for the European and American translations. This method will gain in popularity and will be taken again for the majority of the series. In that he is opposed to the magazines (often of the size of a phone book) printed on paper of low quality (Weekly Shonen Jump,…) who contain multiple series. It is necessary however to include/understand that both work together, with the image for example of the review (To be followed) and of the Editions Casterman formerly in France.

A wideban (ワイド版, waidoban ) is an edition broader than traditional the tankōbon, and takes again the history in a number of volumes reduced compared to this one. For example, Maison Ikkoku was composed in the beginning of 15 tankōbon volumes, and was then published in 10 wideban volumes. Was another example, French-speaking person this time Ci, the manga Cat' S Eye diffused under this format in only 10 volumes, against 25 (?) for the tankōbon.
