Tandjilé

The Tandjilé is one of the 18 areas of the Chad (Decree N° 419/PR/MAT/02) whose chief town is Laï.

Demography

The population of the area was of 458.240 inhabitants in 1993 (RGPH), including 442.876 sedentaries (rural, 385.537; urban, 57.339) and 15.364 nomads.

The principal ethnico-linguistics groups are the Marba (19,85%), the Lélé (13,93%), the Nangtchéré (13,62%), the Ngambay (12,62%) and the Gabri (10,61%).
