Tamsweg
Tamsweg is in the Lungau (province of Salzburg), the sunniest basin of the Austria. The city counts approximately 6000 inhabitants and is located at 1024m above the sea. Thanks to its height and a continental and dry climate, Tamsweg is an area of rest appreciated by the tourists in summer as in winter. Mentioned for the first time in a document going back to 1160, the city opened out during the 14th century. The church of pilgrimage Saint Leonhard in Tamsweg is an excellent monument of medieval art. It counts among the most important churches of pilgrimage of Austria and attracts each year much pilgrims of the whole world. Tamsweg is not only the center of trade of the area, but the city also offers traditional events: the day of the Corpus Christi, then next Sunday, the giant " Samson " (six meters in height) for example the town of Tamsweg crosses.
