Tammela is a municipality south-west of the Finland, in the area of the Kanta-Häme.
The first mention of the place goes back to 1423. At the 17th century, Tammela is made known by providing to the king Sweden a significant proportion of its riders Hakkapélite S which are illustrated during the Guerre Thirty Year old.
The commune is founded in 1868, then Forssa is separate in 1923. She knew since several modifications of her borders.
In spite of development of small industries, Tammela remains still largely a rather poor agricultural commune, the not very fertile and broken ground of the Häme not supporting the output high. N the other hand, it counts very preserved landscapes, that it is the Eastern bank of large the lake Pyhäjärvi (park of Saari), or both national parks of Liesjärvi and Torronsuo, the last being largest Marais still in a wild state of the South of Finland. The proximity of the big cities coupled to this preserved landscape allowed the installation of 3.200 houses of holidays, which represent a bowl of considerable air for the economy of the commune.
The trunk roads n°2 (Helsinki - Pori) and n°10 (Turku - Hämeenlinna) cross the commune. The municipalities bordering are Jokioinen in south-west, Forssa in west (8 km of center in center), Urjala in north (Pirkanmaa), Kalvola and Hattula in the North-East, Renko and Loppi in the east, Karkkila and Nummi-Pusula in south-east (Uusimaa) and finally Somero in the south (Finland of South-west).
