Twin sister of the antique Tipaza and Icosium (Algiers), the town of Tamentfoust (Tamenfoust, Tamentafoust or Tamentefoust) (in Arabic تمنتفوست) is an ancient city whose origins goes back to the era Phénicien and Romaine. Today, although the city lost its notoriety like one of the poles history of the area, it did not lose for all that of its beauty and remains one of the most beautiful towns of Algiers.

Situation
Tamentfoust forms a Cape on the bay of Algiers, its position on the right of this one was worth besides to him its name Berbère ( amazigh ) Tamentfoust meaning “right hand” or “right-sided”.

The city has an historical heritage of most important, which is recognized in its strong Turkish, Bordj Tamentfoust, and the vestiges of its ancient city ( Rusguniae ). The marina represents also an economic historical heritage and a great attraction for the visitors of the city
