The tamagotchi is an animal virtual, Japanese. This name is a Mot-valise created starting from the expression tamagotchi たまごっち meaning “egg to be supervised”, formed starting from the words tamago (which means “egg”) and of the abbreviation of wattchi which comes from the English word watch (which means “to supervise”). The play consists in simulating the life of an animal using a small miniature console equipped with a computer program.

The Japanese manufacturer of toys Bandai left in 1997 an allowing gadget, while pressing on buttons located around a video small screen, to nourish, wash and look after the virtual animal so that he “lives” more the possible for a long time.

In 2004 leaves the matrimonial version. The new toy resembles an egg of all the colors. At the end of one week at ten days, it hatches and becomes a kind of male or female chick (according to the color of the screen), free of its love affairs with its congeneric. The sexual organ of the tamagotchi is a cell with Infrarouge which enables him to download a partner. The happy owner of the animal will find himself thus with a numerical couple whose it will be able to observe frolicking.

Many video games such as Nintendogs have the same principle, i.e. to raise and observe.

Why?

The tamagotchi was invented with a single aim of amusing the children, but especially for those which do not have pets and only feel. But it is also a good means of encouraging the children to deal with animal, under penalty of seeing it dying. There exist several colors, and them versions 1,2 and 3 can be also connected between them:

• Version 1: in 2004, the tamagotchi can from now on be connected to another thanks to the infra-red.

• Version 2: a little later, a new version appears. The tamagotchi can from now on buy various dishes, clothing, toys… and it earns money thanks to the plays which also changed!

• Version 3: in March - April 2006, another version makes its appearance. From now on, it can return of the secret codes, buy new gifts and play new handsets. It is also equipped with a small antenna. But one does not know for what it is used.

• Version 4: in February 2007 leaves the baptized version 4 JinSei. The tamagotchi can maitenant to have a trade, to go to school and to make studies. It can also reach the mail and receive letters of the king or be recruited in a work place. Its antenna is leaning…

• Version 4.5: July 4th, 2007 left version 4.5, in the United States. For France, it will be necessary to await the autumn to see this new version appearing. In all there exist 24 tamagotchis including 6 of the first version, 6 of the second version, 6 of the third version and 6 of the fourth version, without counting those of version 4.5, because the number of communicated color does not come from reliable sources.

Version 3

The tamagotchis version 3 can communicate between them, to benefit from gifts which them owner will seek on www.tamatown.com, version 3. Once the gained gift, a secret code is provided to the owner. If this one between this code in its tamagotchi, it sees the gift offered to its tamagotchi.

To connect itself it is necessary to write the name of user ( to use name ) of the tamagotchi and to register the code of Login which is provided by Tamagotchi. At the time of the disconnection, a password of Logout is provided, it should be returned in the tamagotchi, thus the actions carried out on tamatown are recorded on the tamagotchi.
