Talysh
The Talysh (also called Talishi , Taleshi or Talyshi ) are a Iranian people speaking one about the Iranian Langues of the group of the North-West. They live in certain areas of the north of the Iran (provinces of Gilan and Province of Ardabil) and in the southern parts of the Republic of Azerbaïdjan (left known historically under the name of Talish-i Gushtasbi).
There does not exist official statistic on the number of Talysh in Iran; however, Ethnologist regard around 1 million people. Always according to Ethnolgue, there would be approximately 800.000 alive Talysh in the Republic of Azerbaïdjan. In the thesis Positive Orientation Towards the Vernacular among the Talysh off Sumgayit (" Positive orientation towards the vernacular one among Talysh de Sumgayit"), the number of speakers of Talysh would be at least 400.000 in the Republic of Azerbaïdjan, quantifies to dissension with the official statistics of the Azerbaijani State counting 80.000 Talysh in the country.
