Talthybios

Talthybios is the herald of Agamemnon. It appears in the Iliade of Homère like in tragedies (Hécube of Euripide) and in modern poems which are inspired some, the such Érinnyes of Leconte de Lisle.

Talthybios is at the same time the spokesperson and the ambassador of king Agamemnon. It carries on the occasion its sceptre and has sufficient authority to separate Ajax and Hector in the fray (It 7,276). It comes to seek the slave Briséis, spoils of Achilles taken by Agamemnon.
