Tally (motor bike)

See also: Framework

The tallies of a bicycle or of a motor bike is an element ensuring the connection between the principal elements of the two-wheeled vehicle. All in all, a framework is composed of three tubes, forming a triangle whose point would be directed downwards. One of the higher points is connected to the steering column, the point lower is used as anchoring than the oscillating Bras.

Motor bike

On a motor bike, the framework belongs to the part cycles. Generally, it is manufactured in Acier or in a chromium-molybdenum alloy, it can be in Aluminum on the sporting motor bikes , or out of carbon fiber on the models of competition. It can have various architectures.

Tally with cradle

The framework with cradle is the evolution of the framework of the vélos.
A framework simple cradle has only one tube which connects the steering column to the support of oscillating arm while passing under the moteur.
It known as is stopped if the tube is fixed on the moteur.
It known as is duplicated if it divides in two pennies the engine. A framework doubles cradle has two tubes connecting the column and the support of oscillating arm.

The prototype of the framework doubles cradle, is celebrates it framework says “Featherbed” (reads feathers) manufactured by the English mark Norton at the end of the Fifties, in particular on Manx or the Atlas.

Tubular lattice

The tubular lattice is composed of several tubes, welded between them to form triangles. The triangle being quasi indeformable, the framework lattice are of a very great rigidity.

One primarily finds this type of framework on the Ducati of the current production.

Périmétrique

Called Deltabox at Yamaha or Diamond at Honda, the framework perimetric is that which equips the majority with sporting current.

It surrounds the engine.

Beam

A framework beam is composed of a round or rectangular tube connecting column and arm oscillating and passing above the engine.

Opened

The open framework does not have a higher tube. It is especially used on the scooters, to offer an opened space, not requiring a enfourcher the machine to sit down above.

Omega

The Omega framework was only used very little on a motor bike of series. Until today, only Bimota, on the Tesi and Yamaha, on the 1000 GTS tried the bet to market a motor bike with this type of framework.

The interest is to offer a width contained, a great rigidity and a lowered center of gravity. Nevertheless this type of framework is accompanied by a system of suspension and guidance of the nose gear wheel complex, expensive to create.
