Talha (Tahiride)

Talha Ben Tâhir (rear RTL طلحةبنطاهر) was the governor Tâhiride Khorasan of 822 until its death in 828.

In 822, Tâhir Ben Husayn deceased is assassinated on order of the Caliph Abbasside Al-Ma' mûn whereas it had just taken controls it Khorasan, on its behalf. Al-Ma' mûn let however his/her son Talha Ben Tâhir preserve this post of governor of Khorasan although he hesitated to name in his place his brother “Abd Allah Ben Tâhir but this last was occupied repressing a rebellion in Al-Jazira.

One knows the role of Talha in his campaigns with the Sistan, province hitherto with the hands of the Kharidjites directed by Hamza Ben Adharak. The fight between these two adversaries continued until in 828 when each one of them died. His/her brother `Abd Allah succeeded to him.
