Talal Arslan
Talal Arslan is a Lebanese politician, wire of the former minister, deputy and leader Druze, Magid Arslan. Named appointed in 1991 at the vacant station left since the death of his father, he is elected appointed Druze of Aley at the time of the legislative elections organized into 1992,1996 and 2000.
He occupied the posts of minister of Tourism between 1990 and 1992 within the government of Omar Karamé, of Minister for the Emigrants between 1995 and 1996 in the government of Rafiq Hariri, minister of state without wallet in the Hariri governments between 2000 and 2004 and of Minister for Déplacés in the cabinet of Omar Karamé between 2004 and April 2005.
Adopting a prosyrian political line since its beginnings in Lebanese policy, it was always placed in a position of confrontation with the other leader Druze, Walid Joumblatt, thus perpetuating a political competition between the two families dating from the Othoman time.
It founds in 2002 the Lebanese Democratic party, which gains certain cities of Mount-Lebanon at the time of the municipal elections of 2004.
Following the withdrawal of the Syrian army of Lebanon in 2005, it takes share with the legislative elections organized in the tread, combined with the Free patriotic current of the General Michel Aoun. It fails to be made elect vis-a-vis the list of alliance between Walid Joumblatt, the Running of the Future, the Lebanese Forces and the Hezbollah.
It makes party today National meeting, directed by Omar Karamé and gathering prosyrian personalities.
