Takla Guiorguis II of Ethiopia

Takla Guiorguis II of Ethiopia Négus of Ethiopia of 1868 with 1872.

Born prince Gobaze in 1836, it resulted from a family which claimed to go down from the Zagwe Emperors or Zagoué from the XII éme century and which exerted on a purely hereditary basis the function of governor of the province of Lasta with the title of Waghsum .

In March 1858 it succeeds his father Waghsum Gabre Medhim as governor of Lasta. In 1866 it marries Dinqinash, girl of Shum Temben Mirtcha Wolde Kidane and sister of Kassa Mirtcha the future emperor Yohannès IV of Ethiopia.

After the death of Théodoros II of Ethiopia he proclaims Empereur the June 11th 1868 and is made crown in Debre Zebit in August of the same year under the imperial name of Takla Guiorguis II. The weather east demolishes and been captive with the battle of Assam close to Adoua the July 11th 1872 by his Kassa brother-in-law who takes in his turn the crown under the name of Yohannès IV.

Takla Guiorguis II dies in capitivé in Amba Abba Herima the same year.
