Takeover by force of Agadir

July 1st 1911, after the occupation by the French Army, called by the sultan Moulay Hafiz, of the towns of Reduction, Fès and Meknès, the Emperor of Germany Guillaume II sends a drain-hole, the Panther, to wet in bay of Agadir to take advantage of its rights on the Morocco. The France is at the edge of the conflict with Germany. Under the terms of rough negotiations, led by the president of the council Joseph Caillaux, the French ambassador in Berlin Cambon and the Minister for the colonies Albert Lebrun, Germany gives up being present at Morocco in exchange of territories in equatorial Africa (Cameroun and Congo). A Franco-German treaty is signed on November 4th, 1911, leaving the freehands in France in Morocco.

In March 1912, France imposes to the sultan Moulay Hafiz his protectorate on Morocco. The Lyautey General becomes resident general, i.e. governor of Morocco.
