Veillées of the Islands ( Island' S Night Entertainments ) is a collection of Nouvelle S written by Robert Louis Stevenson published the April 7th 1893.

The collection contains the following titles:- the Coast with Falésà ( The Beach off Falésà ), one of its most mature works, in which it explores the relations between the white colonists and the natives in a manner which precedes Conrad and Maugham
- the endiablée Bottle ( The Bottle Imp )
- the Island with the voices ( The Isle off Voices )
Initially, a fourth news entitled solitary Thorgunna it was to belong to this collection.

The endiablée Bottle
Kéaoué, inhabitant of the island of Hawaii on a journey to San Francisco, saunters in the streets of the city, envying the beautiful houses and its rich person inhabitants.The owner of one of these houses challenges it then and explains to him that all its fortune comes to him from a magic bottle which it has. This bottle contains a little devil exauçant all the wishes of its holder. However, under penalty of being damné, this last must separate some imperatively before dying.
And the only manner of getting rid of this diabolic bottle, it is to sell it at a low price with that which one spent to acquire it. Kéaoué buys the bottle for fifty dollars. Its wish to have a beautiful house is carried out as of its return to Hawaii, where he learns that he inherits a rich person cousin. Somewhat frightened by the capacity of the bottle, it is well relieved to yield it to a friend. He consequently carries out a happy life and without concern whose apotheosis is its meeting with beautiful Kokona which agrees to become his wife. All its hopes crumble when Kéaoué discovers that it contracted the Lèpre. He launches out then to the research of the endiablée bottle, only able to cure his disease. But while passing from owner as an owner, the bottle is worth from now on nothing any more but a hundred…
