Takahisa Shimazu
Takahisa Shimazu (島津貴久; 1514 - July 15th 1571) is a Daimyo of the Period Sengoku with the Japan.
In 1526, Takahisa was adopted by Katsuhisa Shimazu to succeed to him. Thus it took the head of the Famille Shimazu. It launched a series of military campaigns to take the control of the Province of Satsuma, Province of Osumi and Province of Hyūga. Although it gained territories, it is necessary to await the following generation to see the family taking a lead in these provinces.
Takahisa actively promoted the relations between the countries and the people of different horizons. Thus it was the first daimyo to bring firearms to Japan which it recovered at the time of the shipwreck of a Portuguese boat with Tanegashima. In 1549, it accommodated Saint François Xavier and its protection gave him to help it to spread Christianity in Japan. Takahisa also maintained the relations with the Royaume of Ryukyu.
