Synopsis

In the south of Japan, a small village, Yamagami, are more populated only old men still living of agriculture and always attaching a great importance to the ritual monks allowing them of communier with nature, the Shintō worship.

The life of this peaceful village is seen disturbed when one of the natives, tracked by the yakuzas, seeks refuge there. The inhabitants hardly have the choice: either they yield their grounds to pay the debts of the native, or they enter in war against the yakuzas.

They rely on wise from the village which, in a state of fright, sees young people come from the city to fight for the village.

In parallel, the destiny leads two young people of Tokyo lost on the way towards Yagami.
