Taivalkoski
Taivalkoski is a municipality the North-East of the Finland, in the area of Ostrobotnie of North and the under-area of the Koillismaa.
It is the municipality of birth of the writer Kalle Päätalo, undoubtedly the writer having been the most success in Finland of after war. Its native house is besides one of principal tourist attractions of the commune.
Geography
Located in full heart of big spaces of the North-East of Finland, the commune is largely undulating, especially in its northern part, like densément wooded. The village center is crossed by the river Iijoki. It is a very great municipality, of size comparable with the Luxembourg. It is however not in the 20 first by the surface in Finland.The commune is crossed by the main road n°20 connecting Oulu (154 km) to Kuusamo (64 km). Rovaniemi is with 216 km and Helsinki to 777 km.
Taivalkoski is bordered by the municipalities of Kuusamo in the east, Posio in north (Finnish Lapland), Pudasjärvi in the west and Suomussalmi in the south (Kainuu).
