Tail-lez-Yvelines
Tail-lez-Yvelines is a common French, located in the department of the Yvelines and the area Île-de-France.
Its inhabitants is called the Laqueutois .
Geography
The commune is located in the Plaine of Montfort-l' Amaury, to about thirty km in the west of Versailles and about fifteen km in the east Houdan.The south of the communal territory is covered by the forest of the Four Pillars, northern end of the main forest of Rambouillet.
By the road, the commune is served by RN 12 Paris - Brest, via Dreux (with highway characteristic). This trunk road which crossed the village, causing frequent congestions, was deviated, fine 1971, in the shape of a by-pass passing to the south village. The village is crossed by the secondary road 155 which constitutes the commercial principal artery and leads to Garancières towards the North-West and to Galluis towards south-east. The secondary road 156 which bears the name of which occurred of the Plane trees constitutes the connection between the western downtown area and access to the RN 12 and the station of Mother. The secondary road 199, as for it, connects the downtown area to the access is with the RN 12 and the commune of Millemont.
On the communal territory of Garancières, the network the SNCF serves the Gare of Garancières - the Tail on the line Paris-Montparnasse - Dreux.
The communes bordering of the Tail are Boissy-without-To have in the North-East, Galluis in the east and south-east, Grosrouvre in south-west, Millemont in the west and Garancières in the North-West.
History
From August at November 1944, the commune was, following the example certain number of communes of Normandy and west of the Île-de-France, a village-relay on the road of the Red Ball Express train, system of road convoying of vivres, ammunition and especially of fuel set up by the allied troops to feed the forces of the face beyond Paris towards the east of France and the Belgium. Of this event, it remains in the village a commemorative terminal.
Inheritance
- Saint Nicolas's Day Church, construction out of stone with bell-tower-porch surmounted by a covered octagonal arrow of slate, built in 1847 in the place of an old vault. Interior restored in 2005.
