Taiichi Ōno or Taiichi Ohno (in Japanese 大野耐一, Ōno Taiichi , February 29th 1912 - May 28th 1990) was a industrial Engineer Japanese. He is regarded as the father of the known system of production of Toyota also under the name Toyotisme of which the principal concept is the Juste-with-time or JAT. He wrote several books on this subject of which most famous is Toyota Production System: beyond broad-scale production. He initially was an employee of the Toyota family then in 1939, then became paid automobile company.
The family name of Taiichi Ōno is Ōno. In Japanese conventions, it is known under the name of Ōno Taiichi.
The engineers of production owe him the Juste-with-time , this method especially worked out to reduce the Production costs. It rests on a rational organization of the assembly lines known as Kanban , which passes by the reduction of stocks, the production by type of objects, the labelling of the product to follow its history, etc Diplômé of the Université of Nagoya to the Japan, in 1932, Ōno Taiichi works out its method at Toyota, where it makes its first weapons in the textile branch. In 1943, it joined the automobile subsidiary company like person in charge of stocks. The president of this company, Kiichiro Toyoda, states in August 1945: “It is absolutely necessary to catch up with the the United States, if not Japanese auto industry will die”.
At the time, note Taiichi Ōno, the Productivité of an American workman was nine times higher than that of a Japanese. Inspired by work of the professor Shigeo Shingo and after a study trip in the United States, Taiichi Ōno conceives in the Années 1950 its method Juste-with-time . It will be adopted by Toyota in 1962, but will not be immediately applied: the engineer must in particular face the reserve of the workmen with which it falls to become general-purpose. The effectiveness of the Juste-at time will however allure all world industry starting from the Oil crisis of 1973. Vice-president of Toyota of 1975 with 1978, Ōno remains adviser of the group until in 1982. He dies in 1990 with Toyota City in Japan.
