Taher Elgamal
Taher Elgamal (in Arab, طاهرالجمل; sometimes written El Gamal or ElGamal , but Elgamal is the orthography from now on used by the interested party) is a American Cryptographe of Egyptian origin . He is the author éponyme of an algorithm of cryptography to public key which became the base of the system DSA standardized by NIST.
Biography
Taher Elgamal is born in 1956 in Egypt. It obtains a Bachelor off science of the Université of Cairo in 1981, then a Master off science and finally a doctorate of the Université of Stanford. In 1985 it publishes an article entitled a cryptosystème with public key and a diagram of signature based on the discrete logarithms known from now on under the name of algorithm ElGamal. Of 1995 with 1998 he is scientific director with Netscape Communications where he becomes one of the principal promoters of SSL. He is also director of engineering with RSA Security Inc. before founding Securify in 1998 of which it becomes chairman. He becomes president of the group of information on the safety of Kroll-O' Gara when this one acquires Securify. When Securify becomes again independent Taher Elgamal becomes about it the chief technical officer and member of the directory.
