Taher is a city Algérie nne located at 18 km in the east of Jijel, in the Wilaya de Jijel.

The current city is located on the site of an old village - dating the time Othoman E -, it was built on the grounds of the autochtones driven out in the neighbouring mountains, after the “insurrection kabyle” of 1871 (see Révolte of Mokrani ) of the time of the occupation of Algeria by the France, and whose population was expropriée, in particular: blessed Omrane (of the plain of Wadi Djen-djen, Telata and tassoust); beautiful Ouleds Afou (of Boucherka and bazoul), Nile Wadi, Blessed Afer or Blessed Siar, and of the immediate neighborhoods of the current city.

Nowadays, this city makes considerable great strides compared to the Années 1970, an increased marketing activity. With more: 68000 inhabitants, Taher is also the industrial pole of the Wilaya de Jijel, with its industrial park, its large powerplant, its airport Ferhat Abbas (first president of the Provisional government of the Algerian Republic (GPRA), originating in Beni Amrane) and her large port of Djendjen.

The airfield of Taher was in its initial version builds in 1956 by the 2nd company of the 45e battalion of the Genius of the Air. It was intended, enter others, in North 2501 and Bréguet two bridges.
