Mythology

From the point of view of the zoology, the Salamandre is not a Lézard but well a Amphibien, a Batracien. The mythical animal of the same name was considered to live in the Feu and to die only when the flames which saw it being born extinguished. Some Légende S add that of all the Poison S, it is the salamander which is most powerful because it can kill much out of individuals while climbing in a tree and by poisoning its fruits or the water of a well. She suffers from this statute of cursed reptile, its bite would return a man bald person or worse… would kill it. One thought of avoiding oneself hundred days of purgatory by killing this Amphibian.

The salamander had a long time the reputation to be completely insensitive with the effects of fire. One lent the capacity to him to cross a blazing inferno or to be thrown in the flames without suffering no damage. Some even affirmed that its blood was so cold that it could extinguish fire. Moreover among former Egyptians, the hiéroglyphe “salamander” meant “man death of cold”.

The salamander, this small miniature dragon, indicated also the elementary being associated with the Feu element of Old. The animal of the same name was in fact only one notation symbolic of the elementary spirit of Fire. The salamander is a spirit of fire, as the Ondine is an elementary spirit of Water, the Gnome an elementary spirit of the Earth, and the Sylphe an elementary spirit of the Air.

Heraldic
