Tadashi Kawamata (川俣正) is a Japanese plastics technician born in 1953 on the island from Hokkaido.

Biography

Its work

Kawamata carries out in situ works in the whole world. Close relations of the Land Art, its interventions are characterized inter alia by the intensive use of the wood implemented in transitory construction industries (footbridges) intended to connect the places which it invests, or in stackings of objects (chairs, boats…) who invade/fill space.

  • August 2007: Cathedral of chairs, 2007 , an installation of a thousand of chairs of church broken to build a cathedral tended about the day like a stained glass, exposed in the Experiment Pommery#4 , exposure organized by Daniel Buren, gathering works of 37 artists plastics technicians in the cellars of the chalk pits of the Pommery Country cottage to Rheims.
