Tacoma Narrows Bridge

The Tacoma Narrows Bridge (generally translated by bridge of Tacoma or bridge of the strait of Tacoma ) is a Suspended bridge which crosses Tacoma Narrows (the strait of Tacoma), a contracting of the Puget Sound. It connects the towns of Tacoma and Gig Harbor, in the State of the Washington (the United States of America). The first bridge, inaugurated on July 1st, 1940, crumbled on November 7th, 1940, constituting one of the most famous accidents of Civil engineering. The second bridge, open in 1950, is always in service; it is in the course of doubling and the new bridge will be inaugurated in 2007.
