Tacoma is an American city in the State of Washington. A little less than 200.000 inhabitants to the census of 2000.

The name of Tacoma would come from the Amerindian name of the Mount-Rainier, Tacobet , which means “mother of water”.

Founded like autonomous city in 1884, Tacoma is directed by a municipal council made up of nine members: a mayor, five representatives of district and three other representatives.

City off Destiny (city of the Destiny) became the currency of Tacoma when it was indicated like Western terminus of the Northern Pacific Railroad in 1873.

In 1990, Money Magazine indicated Tacoma like the 4th best place where to live with the the United States.

Tacoma is the birthplace of the glass artist Dale Chihuly of which part of work is visible with the Museum of Glass of Tacoma but also in Union Station, the old station restored in 1990 and attached to the Law courts.

The wearing of Tacoma (The Port off Tacoma) is the 6th larger port with containers of North America.

The town of Tacoma divides with Seattle, the International airport of Seattle-Tacoma. It has also a military airport: the Gray Army Air Field : code AITA: GRF).

The Tacoma Narrows Bridge or bridge of Tacoma connects Tacoma to Gig Harbor, it knew a spectacular collapse in 1940.

The rock group The Sonics is originating in Tacoma. The members were: Gerry Roslie (singer, piano, organ), Andy Parypa (guitar), Larry Parypa (low), Bob Bennett (battery), and Rob Lind (saxophone). They in particular recorded " Young stag Are The Sonics" , in 1965.
