The precise definition of the table wine is difficult to give, because it does not exist. In fact, one regards as table wines all the wines which are not included in any other category. The table wines are produced without limitation of Rendement and them Terroir of production is not delimited.
The table wines have still today a discussed reputation. These wines can indeed be elaborate starting from assemblies of several Cépage S, even of several wines. Some are elaborate starting from wines of importation. There exist two denominations in France for the table wines:
One often uses for the table wine of traditional type of vines, such in Languedoc-Roussillon the Carignan or the Cinsault, type of vines ordinary without particular flavors. The table wines thus are often qualified “rough red wine” and the white known as “generic”. However, certain wines resulting from interesting soils and answering no existing category (AOC, local wines…), fruits of experiments of type of vines in areas in which they are not originating can be table wines of quality. Those are then marketed under names of mark and make it possible certain castles to market the part of their harvest which does not return in name.
One distinguishes in the table wines the table wines without indication from source and the table wines with indication from source (local wines).
The table wines are sold under several conditionings, out of bottle of course, but also in cubitainer several liters, or “Bag In Box” (BIB), vacuum cubitainers.
