The Tabasco is a spiced sauce of registered trademark, relatively liquid, containing Piment S ripe reds at point fermented out of barrels, of Vinaigre and salt. There exist several alternatives of the original sauce, of which one with green pepper

Contrary to other sauces or condiments, Tabasco is relatively not very prickly: the prickliest version ( habanero ) is only noted: 7000 with: 8000 on the scale of Scoville whereas the Thai pepper goes from: 50000 with: 100000, which means that this one is seven to twelve times stronger.

This sauce is used in Cuisine, in particular for the preparation of the Steak tartare. It also enters, with parsimony, in the receipt of the cocktail Bloody mary.

It is manufactured in Louisiana (the United States) since 1868 by the McIlhenny company, of the name of its inventor.
