Tabaré Vázquez
Tabaré Ramón Vázquez Rosas (Montevideo, January 17th 1940) is a politician Uruguay in, leader of the party Frente Amplio (coalition of left parties). It is since March 1st, 2005 the president of Uruguay.
He was the mayor of Montevideo, capital of Uruguay, between 1990 and 1995.
He loses the presidential elections in 1994, then in 1999 when he collects 48% of the voices to the second turn of the elections against Jorge Batlle Ibáñez.
The October 31st, 2004, it is elected president of Uruguay, with the first turn, with 50,69% of the voices. It is, so the first president of left (socialist) of Uruguay, in South America which rocks country by country on the left. Officially proclaimed president the November 8th 2004, it takes up duty on March 1st, 2005.
