History
The origin of TV 7 Days emanates from the Magazine French “Radio 44” created by the Sofirad, public agency in charge of the French broadcasting, and of which first publication dated October 29th, 1944. This Hebdomadaire presented the programs of the radio chains of rtf, with articles and comments as well as the grid of the programs of the private radio stations. It changed each year of name until into 1957 to be called “Radio Television 57” then in 1959 Tele “59”. In 1960 Sofirad sells “Tele 60” for 600.000 francs with Jean Prouvost which since March 7th, 1960 renames it “7 days Télé 60” before its current name “Tele 7 days”. With in the beginning a pulling of 320.000 specimens, the title exceeds the million sold specimens each week in January 1963 then exceeds the course of the two million in 1965 and becomes the high circulation figure of the French press, all confused kinds. In 1976, Hachette becomes owner of the magazine. After having been the title of press more read in France in the Years 1980 and 1990 (3,2 million sold specimens each week in 1987), Télé 7 days is declining since 2000. According to OJD, the title saw its sales falling of more than 600.000 specimens between 2001 (2,3 million paid France diffusion) and 2005 (1,7 million). This crisis worsened since the arrival of the new magazines tele Quinzomadaire S in 2004. Télé 7 days added up 6,4 more million readers in 2006 according to the APPM, and this in spite of the fall of its diffusion.
To try to stabilize the sales, the direction of HFM decided replacement of Patrick Mahé, former editor association and director of the drafting of Télé 7 Days since 1996, by Thierry Moreau, director of the drafting of Ici Paris (HFM) in January 2006. This one controlled the installation of a new formula, launched in April 2006, giving in particular more place to the programs of the chains of TNT. The magazine from now on is organized in three headings on television ( Considering, Actu, Voir ), followed by a magazine part “conso”.
