TV-Quebec
TV-Quebec is a public television with educational and cultural vocation which aims at ensuring, by any mode of diffusion, the accessibility of its products to the public. Its head office is located at Montreal, Quebec and it counts nine regional offices. TV-Quebec is shareholder of ARTV and member of the boards of directors of the latter and TV5 Quebec Canada.
Until 1996, the company was known under the name of Radio-Quebec .
Description
TV-Quebec is addressed mainly to French-speaking customers of Quebec.
The purpose of its activities are mainly:
- to develop the taste of the knowledge, to wake up curiosity, to open new horizons, to cause the reflection and to involve the televiewers on the way of the discovery;
- to support the acquisition of knowledge by the presentation of educational and attractive emissions;
- to promote the artistic and cultural life, of to be the carry-standard and to support the artists and craftsmen in their multiple achievements;
- to reflect regional realities and the diversity of the Québécois Company.
It is partly financed by the Gouvernement of Quebec, the remainder coming from the sales of advertisements and mixed liability companies.
History
The Québécois government creates Radio-Quebec on February 22nd, 1968 by the implementation of a law voted in 1945. The new institution moves in Fullum streets and Co.-Catherine. In 1969, the government creates by law the Office of radio-remote transmission of Quebec which will exploit Radio-Quebec. Up to 1974, Radio-Quebec diffuses only on the cable in evening, in the urban areas (Montreal, Quebec, Hull, Gatineau and Sherbrooke). Following a favorable decision of CRTC, the first transmitting stations UHF are put in activity and the television network is officially launched in 1975. The network will be wide the following years in order to join all the areas of the Quebec.
In 1979, Radio-Quebec becomes the Company of radio-television of Quebec. It launches the slogan: " The other télévision." Following several years of regional expansion, the Gobeil report/ratio is presented in 1986, and the company sudden of heavy budget cuts. The regional emissions in detachment of network are abandoned. In 1988, Radio-Quebec supports the establishment of TV5 to the Quebec. In 1992, the production activities are concentrated with Montreal with the installation of new studios. The middle of the years 1990 is marked by new budget cuts which lead the company to have to resort to producer private.
In 1996, Radio-Quebec becomes officially TV-Quebec, and passes from analogical to the numerical one. In 2001, the company becomes shareholder of ARTV. In 2005, a committee of examination recommends to late the ministry of the Culture and the Communications of the Quebec a modernization of the company, including the abandonment of the internal production. This modernization is implemented since 2006 with the stop of the production in Montreal as well as the abolition of 127 stations.

Infrastructure
TV-Quebec has 17 antennas of analogical hertzian transmission through Quebec, joining more than 92% of the population. The setting in waves is made starting from the head office in Montreal. The station has a license of numerical diffusion terrestrial but the transition is always in hand.
The three only emissions entirely produced by TV-Quebec into 2007 are Méchant contrast! , the Dictated of Americas and capsules cultural Loan-with-to leave . The production is coordinated from the office of Quebec and is carried out in collaboration between the nine regional offices:
