TRANSPAC was a Filiale of the French operator France Telecom, in the field of systems integration networks for the companies. The purpose of this subsidiary company was to manage the network X.25 of France Telecom in the years 1980. Gradually, its activity changed to propose services of corporate networks, while setting up the new technologies (XDSL, network ATM, network Frame Relay, VPN, Rented Liaison) integrated in the offer undertaken of France telecom.
The Filiale was absorbed by the head office on January 1st 2006. Since June 1st, 2006, TRANSPAC was integrated into Orange Business Services
In 1979, France telecom lance TRANSPAC : the first network of data transmission per packages in France.
Based on the protocol X.25 it is currently the wide-area network X.25 of the world, but much any more is not used since the appearance of new technologies much more appropriate to the current networks, such as ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode).
The network Télétel of the Minitel uses TRANSPAC like backbone.
