The nuclear warhead 71 ( TN 71 ) is a thermonuclear warhead of French manufacture used in the strategic ballistic missiles launched since the underwater nuclear launchers of machines (SNLE) of the Classe Frightening the.
It has a power of 150 kt.
Brought into service in 1985 in the ballistic missiles M4-B, it was replaced as from October 1996 by TN 75 which equips the missiles M-45 intended for the underwater nuclear launchers with machines of new generation (SNLE-NG).
There were 288 active TN 71 before its replacement in 1996, then 96 in 2001 and more none in 2004, date on which it was withdrawn from the service.
