TDCI

The TDCI , Initials of Compact Interactive Disc, was conceived by Philips, Sony and Matsushita to impose a new standard " Multi-media " , concept sails very about it since the years 1980. Success was not with go. Windows 95, Internet and the PlayStation was right of the TDCI.

It can contain as well raw data as video or sound. Its specificities are given in the Green book. The TDCI cannot be read in a reader of CD standard and were conceived to be used with the Télévision.

History

The concept takes form in 1986. In 1988, the large ones of electronics (Philips, Sony and Matsushita) sign an agreement around this standard, privileging the plays, the formation and the interactive terminals. The first machine is presented in 1989 and it is only in 1992 that the system is diffused widely near the general public. The units of this line of product could use a disk drive, a keyboard of computer and another peripherals. Certain models could also be connected to an emulator and had functions of software tests and debuggage.

There exist also models difficult to put in categories, like FW380i, a reader TDCI integrated in a stereo chain; The 21TCDi30, a television with a reader built-in TDCI; The modular TDCI 180/181/182, the first system TDCI manufactured.
