TAMA

The interferometer TAMA is a Japanese project of Interféromètre of the type Michelson.

It is intended to detect possible gravitational waves whose passage would be likely to modify in a negligible way the length of the arms of the interferometer. With an aim of increasing the length of these arms, one uses two cavities of the type Fabry-Perot in each arm.

The observation of the gravitational waves is intended to supplement in an important way the observation of the electromagnetic waves (light waves, radio and Micro-onde S, Gamma rays and X) as well as astro-particles (cosmic rays, Neutrino S). Their study makes it possible to reveal aspects of the universes hitherto unknown and to extend the field of observation until in the areas obscured by dust and masked by other phenomena.
