T-35 tank

Presentation

This monster inspired by Independent Vickers with its five turrets, its 50 T and its 11 team members spent four years to become operational, after three infructeux tests (T30, T35-1 and T35-2). Produced in minor amount (~70 specimens), it continuously posed problems of development of its engine and its transmission which forced with a modernization in 1937 and with a standardization of its turrets with those of the Char_T-28. Its mass prohibited the reinforcement of its shielding already too weak at the time of its exit and it appeared impossible to order because of separation of its stations of combat.

Engagements

Ever engaged before 1941, during the German invasion, gathered in the 34e division armor-plated of the 8th body mechanized in Ukraine, the majority were scuttled or given up by their crews, without same to have seen the combat. A specimen is however preserved at the museum of Kubinka to Moscow.

  • 1 assistant technician who drives the tank.
  • central turret (3 men):
    • 1 chief of tank which serves the machine-gun of the principal turret (1st lieutenant).
    • 1 chief of principal turret which is gunner of the 76,2 Misters
    • 1 radio operator operator who charges the 76,2 Misters
  • turret gun before (2 men):
    • 1 assistant who is gunner of the 45 mm (lieutenant).
    • 1 chief of turret n°2 which charges the 45 Misters
  • turret machine-gun before (1 man):
    • 1 driver which is responsible for the engine, serves the machine-gun and assists the pilot (sign).
  • back turret gun (2 men):
    • 1 chief of turret n°4 which is gunner.
    • 1 assistant driver which charges the 45 Misters
  • back turret machine-gun (1 man):
    • 1 chief of turret n°5 which serves the machine-gun.
  • external of the tank (2 men):
    • 1 driver chief
    • 1 mechanic
