Töv (province)
The Aymag of Töv (Mongolian: Төваймаг, meaning " aymag central") is one of the 21 provinces of Mongolia. It is located at the center of the country, around the capital municipality of Oulan Bator.
Geography
The aymag included the western part of the mountains of Khentii, the mountains around the capital and the steppes in the south and the west. The principal river is the river Tuul, which crosses further Oulan Bator for jetter in the river Orkhon.
Culture
The monastery of Manzshir Khiid is close to Zuunmod in the national park of Bodgkhaan Uul. It was founded in 1733 and sheltered 20 temples and 300 monks. The majority of the site were destroyed by the Communists. The last temple was restored with the arrival of the democracy in Mongolia. A small museum was arranged.
