Tépanèques

The Tépanèques are the descendants of the one of the seven legendary tribes Nahua which penetrate in the center of the Mexico after the fall of Tula at the end of the 12th century. They are thus related with the Chichimèques and the Aztèques.

They settle in the Anahuac, i.e. the valley of Mexico City and found the town of Azcapotzalco.
The king Tezozomochtli (or Tezozomoc) assujétit the Aztec ones of the towns of Texcoco and Tenochtitlan. His/her daughter marries the tlatoani of Tenochtitlan, Huitzilihuitl.
However the relations are degraded between the two people under the reign of Maxclatl, successor of Tezozomochtli, and an alliance between the three cities of Texcoco, Tenochtitlan and Tlatelolco is tied under the action of Tlacaelel against the Tépanèques . Those are overcome several times towards 1428/1430.

Azcapotzalco is taken in 1430 and entirely destroyed, while Maxclatl is killed. The territories tépanèques are integrated in the Aztec empire which starts to be constituted.
